Despite its relatively high cost, it’s also the most desired renovation project, with 27% of UK homeowners revealing that their kitchen is the room they’re most keen to improve, followed by the bathroom and living room at 14% and 11% respectively.
During the lockdown period, some 18% of homeowners carried out some form of home improvement project.
After the kitchen, the next most expensive part of the home to renovate appears to be the conservatory. Indeed, 73% of homeowners who made improvements to their conservatory spent £3,550 on average. Elsewhere, the amount typically spent by 94% of those who did up their bathroom was £3,340.
The research also revealed that new flooring is a popular home improvement project, carried out by 60%, while kitchen worktops and windows have been recently upgraded by 53%.
Homeowners in York have typically spent the most on home improvements at £49,056, followed by those in Southampton and Cardiff at £47,512 and £46,012 respectively.
